How It Works

Paste the hosted server URL into your AI assistant’s custom MCP connection settings.
Sign In and Review Access
Connect your ReelScribe account and review consent for reading transcripts and submitting jobs that spend credits.
Work from Your Chat
Start with your credit balance and saved transcripts. Submit a supported video URL when you are ready to transcribe.
Available Tools
Transcribe individual videos, include selected comments, submit batches and Instagram channels, and retrieve results.
transcribe_video
Submit a supported Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or Facebook URL. New jobs cost 1 credit. Optional selected comments are available for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. The hosted server returns a request ID; retrieve the result when processing finishes.
get_transcription
Retrieve a transcription by ID or requestId. Returns the full transcript text, metadata, and video details.
list_transcriptions
Browse one page of your transcriptions, with optional status filtering and a cursor for the next page. Results include transcript previews.
search_transcriptions
Search a window of your recent transcriptions by the original video URL. A missing match does not mean the video was never transcribed.
get_credits
Check your credit balance, subscription tier, completed transcript count, and retention period. Reading this information does not spend credits.
validate_url
Test if a URL is a supported platform without using credits. Detects Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook URLs.
transcribe_bulk
Submit a batch of URLs, including URLs from CSV. Uses the same credit, deduplication and plan limits as the website. Requires batch transcription consent.
transcribe_instagram_channel
Transcribe up to 50 Instagram reels with an optional posted-after date. Paid plans only; the website credit and refund rules apply.
list_jobs
Check progress for your batch and channel transcription jobs. Retrieve completed results by job ID.

Quick Setup
Connect the hosted server, then sign in to your ReelScribe account

- Open Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- Name it ReelScribe and paste the server URL above.
- Choose Sign in now and Use Claude’s published identity. Sign in and review the consent screen.
- Enable ReelScribe from the connectors menu in a new chat.
ChatGPT
- Open Plugins and choose + → Add custom MCP server.
- Enter ReelScribe and the server URL above. Use OAuth authentication and follow the sign-in flow.
- Create and install the resulting plugin, then select ReelScribe with @ in a new chat.
Custom MCP access depends on your account and workspace permissions. Your settings may use Apps or Connectors labels.

MCP Server FAQ
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude, Cursor, and Windsurf connect to external tools. The ReelScribe MCP server lets you transcribe videos directly from your AI chat — no browser tabs or copy-pasting needed.
For Claude or ChatGPT, add the hosted server URL from the setup guide and sign in with your ReelScribe account. Review the consent screen, then enable the connector in your chat. Local clients can also run the npm package with a ReelScribe API key.
Claude and ChatGPT can connect to the hosted server when custom MCP connections are enabled for your account or workspace. Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Cline, and other clients can use the local npm package. Availability depends on the client and your workspace permissions.
The connector reads your transcripts, credit balance and job progress, and submits video transcriptions. Batch and Instagram channel submissions require additional transcription consent. Older connections must reconnect to approve it. Downloads, library management, analytics, settings and billing are available in the web app. You can revoke access through your connected-app settings.
Yes. Everyone uses the same public HTTPS endpoint and signs in to their own ReelScribe account. You can add it as a custom connector now. This setup guide does not mean the connector has been approved or listed in any platform directory.
